Project Proposal

 1.0 Problem

Across thousands of areas in the world, theft is a crime that exists throughout countless societies and is acted out by people of all ages. Ranging from small-level stealing such as shoplifting to house robberies and large-scale company thievery, many people have become skilled with the act of theft and use it against justice to accomplish their goal of increasing their wealth with stolen property. Countless adults, teenagers, and young kids are victims to this crime due to not having the sufficient knowledge and resources to keep their belongings (wherever it may be) safe from potential theft. People who are in a situation of living with others (most commonly college students) are more prone to theft than usual as they are sharing a living space with other people that they may not be familiar with. This increases the rate in which robbery could occur.

Among the various reasons, people tend to slip up in their day-to-day activities and make mistakes that could cause them to become a potential target for theft. One of the most common reasons is forgetting to lock certain contraptions that would normally require locking. For example, people tend to forget to lock their doors, wardrobes, shelves, windows, and vehicles. When skilled thieves recognize that people make this error, they jump into the action to take this slip-up to their advantage. People may realize that they have forgotten to lock something and will feel anxious and unsafe about what might happen to their belongings. However, sometimes, it is too late and they are unable to save their valuables from theft.

2.0 Proposed Solutions

1. Smart locks will boost accessibility for the user without sacrificing security. House keys are frequently lost. You can open these locks with your passcode or by using your smartphone if you want to avoid constant tracking of keys or changing the locks. Your lock can be locked and unlocked remotely.

2. By installing the smart lock Android or iOS app, you may quickly manage the lock remotely from your smartphone if you discover you forgot to lock your room but are outside of it.

3. You can maintain tabs on who enters and exits your home while also getting information about the time of each visit by using these smart locks

4. Smart locks give you a variety of keyless entry choices. You can unlock the door remotely or by making one-time keys. Many college students are compelled to reside in shared accommodations. Being able to control the lock will help a lot of people without physically being there because not everyone will be in the same room at all times (For example, if your friend needs to grab an important document that you locked inside a wardrobe, you can open the room for him even if you are not with him).

5. Auto-locking after a predetermined amount of time is a function of smart locks. The same capability can also be configured based on a smartphone's location. The door automatically locks when the location of your smartphone leaves the boundary. Everyone experiences anxiety when they are unsure of whether their door is locked or not. An app that shows the lock's status (locked or unlocked) will reassure users that their room, possessions, and other items they would use the lock for are safe.

3.0 Target Users

1. Motorcyclist/Bicyclist The locking mechanism can help both users in keeping their vehicle safe and less time consuming than regular lock. Also, they can track the lock's location as some could forgot they had park their vehicles

2. Home Owner Home can be even safer with security detection and multi-user connection. Homeowner can be more assure with the safety of their house if thieves try to break the lock as it will alert home owner and contact authority if house is in bad situation

3. Students Our product is more suitable for students because of its multi-connect and info recorded features. Thus, students can share with their friends and secure their belongings without spending much on multiple locks
